Monticello United Methodist Church
The ancient Way · the living Word · the abundant Life.
Welcome to Our Church
Monticello United Methodist Church is a Christian congregation in Monticello, Mississippi. We are a community dedicated to preaching the living Word, walking the ancient Way, and sharing the abundant life of Christ with our town and the world. Each Lord’s Day we gather for worship around Word and Table, and through the week we pray the daily office, study the Scriptures, and care for one another as the family of God. Whether you have belonged to a church your whole life or are seeking God for the first time, there is a place for you here.
Sunday Worship
We gather for worship every Sunday at 10:30 a.m. at 130 East Broad Street in Monticello. Worship lasts about an hour and follows the historic Christian pattern — the gathering, the reading and preaching of Scripture, prayer, and the Table — with hymns sung by the whole congregation and the Lord’s Supper celebrated on the first Sunday of each month. Children are welcome in worship, learning the rhythms of faith alongside their families rather than being sent away. Newcomers need not worry about knowing what to do: every prayer and response is printed, and you are free simply to sit, listen, and pray.
What We Believe
We are orthodox in conviction and Wesleyan in inheritance — rooted in the Scriptures of the Old and New Testaments, formed by the historic Creeds of the Church, and shaped by the Wesleyan tradition of head and heart together. We proclaim the gospel of Jesus Christ, crucified and risen for the salvation of the world; we teach the Word of God plainly and faithfully; and we magnify the sacraments of Holy Baptism and the Lord’s Supper. Our worship is biblical, traditional, and liturgical, offered to the glory of God and for the forming of disciples who love God and neighbor.
Ministries & Outreach
The life of this congregation reaches far beyond Sunday morning. We share fellowship and hospitality at the table; the United Methodist Women serve the church and community; we care for the sick and the homebound with visitation and monthly communion; and we join in mission — feeding the hungry, sheltering those in need, and bearing one another’s burdens in Monticello and beyond. A rhythm of prayer runs through the week in the daily office and the prayer chapel, where members and neighbors alike may bring their intentions before God.
